Our woodland walk yesterday with Poppy and the dogs was really funny. As we approached the little bridge which spans the stream Poppy announced that there was a troll on the bridge and made a growling noise, she held Grandads hand to cross the bridge then when she was safely at the other side she announced that she is a princess, and that she is not afraid of the troll as she is a brave little girl! She then kept making growling noises all the way down the path and asking if we had heard the noise, was it the troll?
We walked past a man with long hair trying to control his three rather large dogs which were pulling on their leads and as we passed him Poppy asked "Grandma, what was that lady doing?" As you can imagine we carried on rather swiftly whilst trying not to laugh!
Poppy decided she was a butterfly and kept running along in front flapping her arms around and saying "I`m a pink butterfly", she then decided we have to play hide and seek again and fluttered over to the trees to hide with Grandad. I`m sure the other dog walkers must think we are nutcases! Especially when I attempt to hide behind a tree whilst sitting on a mobility scooter! Not easy!!
As we were on the way home we saw someone we know walking along the path and Poppy said "whats that old lady doing Grandma" (`what` has become the word of the day at the moment, "whats that, whats this for?") as the person in question was neither old, or a lady, I quickly changed the subject hoping they had not heard!
Our walk in the woods this afternoon will not be quite so funny!

Hide and seek!!
Poppy and I were out in the garden at 8.30am, I cleaned her car off for her while she watered the flowers, she had her kitchen out and made cups of tea but by 9am she wanted to go indoors, got her dummy and snuggly and sat on my lap rubbing her nose with the snuggly, a sure sign of tiredness! I put Thumbelina on for her which we bought yesterday and she was engrossed at first but fast asleep before the film finished!! She is now fast asleep on the sofa so I am taking the opportunity to write this before she wakes. We have to go for a walk in the woods this afternoon with the dogs, Poppy told me so as soon as she walked in this morning so hope the sun keeps shining! It keeps disappearing behind clouds so I am getting slightly worried! As long as it does not rain .....
When we went for our walk on Thursday we were half way round when Poppy suddenly announced let's play hide and seek, come on grandad we can hide, you count to ten grandma. Coming, ready or not I had to shout then hurtle off up the path on my trusty mobility scooter to see if I could find them. (Not a hard job when a man and small child hide behind a thin tree!!) Then it was my turn, do you know how hard it is to hide behind a tree on a mobility scooter??!

Easter hols.
I haven`t updated the Poppy Chronicles for a bit because it has been the Easter holidays and Poppy has mostly been at home with her Mummy and Daddy, apart from their two weekends away in Torquay and Clacton during the holidays.
Apparently a good time was had by all, Poppy loves visiting Nanny Seaside, Grandad Dave and Oscar in Torquay, especially as she gets a ride on a donkey and if the weather is warm enough can make a sandcastle.
Clacton in a caravan along with Aunty Bev, Uncle Gaz and cousins Ruby and Florence also went very well and the girls all had a great time together dancing at the disco, swimming in the pool and generally enjoying themselves. Ruby and Poppy shared a bedroom so I`m not sure how much sleep the grown ups got as they were so very excited (Poppy and Ruby, not the grown ups!) Poppy loves her "Rubes". Bless.
Today we had proof of just what a clever little girl Poppy is when she Facetimed her Daddy at work on the ipad! I presumed she had some help from Emma to video call her Daddy but Em said she was sitting on the sofa next to Poppy as she was playing with the ipad when she heard a phone dialing and realised Poppy had rung Lee! Probably accidental I should imagine, and I bet Lee had such a shock when his 2 year old daughter Facetimed him! If it wasn`t a fluke, watch out for the phone ringing with a Facetime call!!
She is back at nursery tomorrow, not that she realises it yet, and back with her childminder. Having spent a fortnight playing happily with Mummy, Emma is wondering if she will be happy about parting from her!

Chocolate, chocolate and a bit more chocolate.
Its the Easter holidays so Poppy is at home with Mommy, though we have all had a few outings together this week. Emma, Lee and Poppy along with Lily went down to see Nanny Seaside on Good Friday resulting in a 6 hour journey as the get away to Devon got underway. Thankfully the same journey in reverse took 3 and a half hours as they started a bit earlier and the traffic was not so bad. I`m told they had a nice time at Torquay visiting Nanny, Grandad Dave and Oscar the dog. Poppy got a ride on a donkey, even if the weather was rather cold, and she enjoyed herself at the disco, joining in with the other children and having her photo taken with two large animals (people dressed in costume!) She had an easter egg hunt in Nannys garden, placing her chocolate eggs carefully in her bucket watched over by Nanny, Mommy and Daddy who stood encouraging her to find the eggs as fast as possible because they were freezing! Unfortunately the weather this Easter certainly did not manage the heatwave of last year and it has been very cold. Pops received lots of Easter eggs, and even a special Easter present from Aunty Kim in Australia of some little chocolate animals in a tin which looked like rabbits. She even had a chocolate Gruffalo from us!
On Tuesday afternoon we all went over to visit Michelle and the boys. Poppy was sitting down colouring before we even managed to get through the door of the living room, joining in with Ryan, Rhys and Owen and the two little girls they had visiting that afternoon. Before we knew it they were off playing hide and seek, when Emma went to find them when it was time to go home she discovered Poppy and Ryan crawling out from underneath Michelles bed, their hiding place in the game! We were all hungry on the way home so decided to get fish and chips to save cooking. Poppy was very lucky to go home with some chocolate that Michelle had bought her for Easter. Apparently Rhys had already eaten nearly all of his Easter eggs!
Wednesday afternoon Emma, Poppy and I visited Marg and Rich, my sister and brother in law. Poppy was very lucky to received some Easter gifts from her great Aunt and Uncle so she was soon sitting on the floor drawing pictures on a small blackboard. We had to leave about 4pm as Lee rang for a lift from work so we made a detour to pick him up and Poppy was very excited when Daddy got into the car. She was not quite so pleased when he started pinching her cheesy biscuits though! As Poppy said "cheeky Daddy!!"
