Chocolate buttons at the ready!

I was going to take Poppy to the library this morning as they have a rhyme time on a Wednesday morning, at least they normally do apparently, we have not been before. Unfortunately it was not on this morning, it is term time only and as some schools only went back today the group was not on, shame as Pops would have enjoyed it, she loves it when you sing nursery rhymes to her and tries to join in and dance!

We took her to the park instead and she had a lovely time on the swings, slide and roundabout, she laughed when she was on the swing, she did not want to get off! She really liked the roundabout too, she was hanging on to the red bar for dear life while sitting on Grandads lap and grinning! She did not want to leave the playground but it was quite chilly.

We decided to go and see my sister, her great Aunt was very pleased to see her and insisted on sitting on the floor to play with her, and then my niece and her two friends turned up, who she was also very pleased to see, and vice versa, she enjoyed all the fuss made of her! When we got home she had a quick lunch and was eager to get out of her high chair to play, we could see she was quite tired but she did not want to give in and go to sleep, when she did eventually fall asleep about 3pm she slept for nearly 3 hours!! Almost unheard of for Poppy to sleep so long during the day!

Emma arrived to pick her up just after 6pm while she was still eating her tea, she had received a phone call from the hospital to say that they need a blood test from Poppy to go along with the urine test they did yesterday and they need to have it done in the next couple of days, it would have been nice if they had realised that yesterday as it means yet another visit to the hospital! As it is difficult for Em to have any more time off at such short notice she asked if Poppys Grandma and Grandad could take her in for the blood test and they said that would be okay, therefore we shall be off straight after breakfast in the morning to get it over and done with, and before the parking gets bad at the hospital as if we leave it much later the clinics will be starting and then the parking gets more difficult. Poor little Poppy, I`m not looking forward to taking her for them to jab needles into her, chocolate buttons at the ready then!

Just before Em took Poppy home this evening she was sitting on the floor playing with her when Poppy turned around from the little ride on car she has to face her mummy and then took an unexpected step towards her! I saw her do it, Emma looked very surprised and pleased, though Grandad missed it altogether! Whether she will do it again in a hurry remains to be seen, I think it was an accident she did it this time, so we shall wait and see, she is quite steady on her feet now, she just needs to learn to do it properly and to have the confidence to balance on her own.
