HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA, YIPEE!

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to Grandma, happy birthday to you. Yipee!"

That was what Poppy sang to me yesterday morning when she arrived with her Mum! Bless.

She had drawn me a picture on my birthday card, "Poppy birthday Grandma" she kept telling me pointing at the card. "Poppy draw."

I had some lovely presents, Em managed to buy me the same poppy charm which she got me last year to go on my bracelet! She somehow forgot that they had already bought it for me! Blonde moment! Graham got me a couple of charms for my bracelet and some Thorntons toffee, and Rachel and Steven bought me the box set of Pacific which I have been wanting to watch. Jill bought me a lovely nail varnish set so this morning my nails are painted purple!

Poppy was very pleased with all the visitors who called in during the morning to give me birthday cards and good wishes. She saw Anne walk past the window on her way to the front door and hurried into the hallway to be first to greet her. Anne had a my little pony thrust into her hands as soon as she walked in! Jill was handed a my little pony, so was Lesley! Barney knocked Poppy over in his excitement when the other Jill knocked on the door so Poppy was crying when I answered the door but she soon cheered up when she realised yet another visitor was on the step, and she waved her off cheerfully calling "Ta ta Aunty Jill" when she left.

At the end of a busy morning Poppy had a sandwich for lunch and then showed herself to be tired. She wanted her dummy and snuggly which is always the give away. Jill very kindly took her upstairs for me and we put her in her cot with a couple of toys, she was soon fast asleep. She must have been really worn out as she then slept for almost 3 hours!!

Emma had a phone call from Lee while Poppy was finishing off her tea to say he would fetch her on his bike, as for once it was not raining. When he arrived, and she had eaten her yogurt he put her coat on and she ran into the lounge to give her Grandad and I a kiss and cuddle before she left. "Bye Grandma, bye Grandad" she called, waving as she went out of the door. "Bye Mommy". We all waved and blew kisses and Emma stopped for a little while to chat before heading off to get a bit of shopping and give Poppy her bath before bed.

After all the excitement of the day, we decided to leave going out for my birthday meal until this evening, to be honest I was just too worn out to bother!
