THE EASTER BONNET PARADE.

We were there in force this morning to watch Poppy take part in her first Easter bonnet parade at nursery. Emma asked me if I would like to go a few days ago, Lee was not at work today because of the snow so he joined the party, Sallianne, who looks after Poppy while Mommy and Daddy are at work obviously had to be included too, and Jill, my good friend who comes round to help me when Poppy comes to visit Grandma was included also. Even Grandad popped in for a short while, it was easy for him as he is the caretaker of the building where the nursery is held so he was there anyway, but he was called away after a short time, something to do with his official duties.
As soon as the children entered the room where all the Mommies, Daddies, Grandmas, childminders and Aunties were sitting Poppy saw all the strange faces, then recognised her Daddy and her Mommy and burst into happy tears before rushing over to her Daddy and flinging her arms round him! After a cuddle with various people she sat on one of the very small chairs meant for the nursery helpers before moving to sit on a donut which turned out to be a small plastic cushion ring thing which looked like a donut with a hole in the centre, alongside the other children. A few of the other children had also recognised Mommy, or Grandma, and also burst into tears causing them also to rush over for cuddles and a couple of them refused point blank to sit on the donuts, but wanted to sit on the lap of the person there to watch. The bonnets were wonderfully decorated with a whole array of things, eggs, ribbons, feathers, flowers, little chicks, and Poppy was most put out when one of the eggs fell off her hat, causing her to burst into tears until one of the nursery teachers popped it back on, unfortunately the glue must have dried out because it then kept on falling off again! One of the Moms was elected to strum the guitar and the children sang some songs to do with Easter, involving some of  the children in turn to take pictures of eggs from a board and take them "home", and then some of the children had to be ducks for 5 little ducks. We were entertained with songs, even joining in with some of the instrument playing which involved tapping two sticks together and the parade lasted around half an hour altogether. Poppy had an easter card and a little paper basket holding a small chocolate egg to take home with her then we all filed out of the room to fetch coats before saying thank you and goodbye to the wonderful nursery nurses. Poppy gave us a kiss and off she went home with Daddy while Mommy had to go back to work, pleased and proud to have seen her beautiful little daughter take part in her first Easter bonnet parade.
