Woodland outings.

Poppy was tired by 9am yesterday morning and clearly wanted to go to sleep, even though she said she didn`t! After a few cuddles and a short time lying on the sofa it was obvious she was not going to give in so I thought she might sleep better upstairs in bed and asked if she wanted to go and find her dollies. Within a few minutes she was standing at the bottom of the stairs, waiting for me to open the gate. She immediately started chatting to her dollies and lay down giving them a cuddle, within ten minutes she was fast asleep! Three hours later I heard a little voice calling "Grandma, I`m awake" so I went up to see her and she was chattering as soon as I walked through the door. She wanted to take her dollies downstairs so I carried them while she walked carefully down the stairs holding on to the bannister telling me "you have to be careful walking downstairs Grandma, then your safe."
Poppy sat her dollies on the sofa and chatted away to them, then turned round to me and cried "Grandma, I`m so so happy today."  Bless her.
Peppa Pig accompanied lunch and Poppy ate very well then it was not very long until Grandad arrived home and Poppy remembered that I had promised a walk in the woods with the dogs when Grandad got home from work so we were soon putting on coats, boots and gloves. It was a bright but cold afternoon so we had to wrap up warm and it was nice to get out into the fresh air. Poppy loves walking through the woods, we often see other dog walkers who she says hello to, and if the dogs are ok she likes to stroke them, she listens for the birds and looks up into the trees to find squirrels, looks at the stream to see if she can find frogs or fish and really enjoys her outings. When we got back she wanted to play in the shed for a while, playing hide and seek with Grandad she counted to ten, called "ready or not, here I come" then pretended she did not know he was in the shed! "Grandma, is Grandad in the house?" No Pops, he is not in the house. "Grandma, is Grandad in the other room?"  No Pops, he is not in the other room. Big coughs from Grandad, indicating he is actually in the shed. Poppy ignores him and looks down the path at the side of the house asking if he is by the gate. She eventually put him out of his misery and opened the shed door calling "found you Grandad!!" After twenty minutes or so they decided to come into the house as it was getting cold, and so we had a drink to warm up.
We had pizza for tea but just as we were starting to eat Poppy spilt a little of her drink on herself so I rushed to get her into dry clothes, putting my back out in the process! Emma arrived home from work shortly afterwards and Poppy was delighted to see her Mummy, throwing her arms up for a big cuddle.
I am now resting my back and hoping it will improve for the weekend.
